House Finches feeding at bird feeder

We use this kind of feeder to feed the birds. We also bought a lid for it that it about 24 inches (2 feet) in diameter. This prevents the squirrels from coming down the bungee cord and getting in the feeder. Some of the acrobats can still manage to get there but not very often. The other thing is the lid or top is large enough so that it keeps the rain off of the seed unless it blows from the side.
